This video shows you how to test a 3 phase compressor for any grounds as well as how to test the windings of a 3 phase compressor using a muti meter.

Checking for a grounded compressor:
From each 1 terminal to ground, you should read “O.L” indicating there is no ground if using resistance and there should be no audible sound if using continuity. If there was an audible sound indicating you have continuity or if you had a resistance reading then that would indicate you have a ground.

Checking the windings of a 3 phase compressor:
Between any 2 terminals in any combination, there should be a balanced reading meaning between any 2 terminals in any combination, you should have the same or very similar reading between the terminals when checking resistance indicating the windings are good. If you didn’t have a balanced reading between a set of 2 terminals, that would indicate the compressor has failed internally due to the windings.
