It is very important to understand how the floating seal works inside a Scroll compressor. The main purpose of the floating seal is to prevent a scroll compressor from running into a vacuum. When you have a large compression ratio above 11:1 air conditioning compressors and 26:1 refrigeration compressors the floating seal forces become unbalanced and the scroll set separates. The compressor could be running and not pumping but this does not mean the compressor has failed, the compressor will run until the internal overload opens because you have no refrigerant coming back to cool the compressor. You have to wait until the compressor is fully cooled, this could take a while, and then test again.
