Can VFD's be added to Fixed Compressors?

If you did not know you can add VFDs to Copeland Discus compressors as well as Copeland Scroll compressors. There are situations where the system is oversized and short cycling or you want better control of the system and instead of replacing the compressor or the whole system, there is the possibility to add a VFD to that compressor. You do have to follow the guidelines for the specific compressor you added it to, and I am seeing this more and more. One thing, you do need to follow the range at which the compressor operates or you could cause premature failure. Check out these AE bulletins that explain in a bit more detail.
