HVAC 1st Year Apprenticeship Class, How an AC Works, Refrigeration Cycle w Bryan Orr- HVAC School

In this HVAC Training Video, I visit Bryan Orr from “HVAC School” and teach his 1st year HVAC Apprenticeship Students. I go over the Refrigeration Cycle of an Air Conditioner and How an Air Conditioner Works in regard to the Refrigerant Flow and Components. Supervision is needed by a licensed HVACR Tech while performing tasks as Experience and Apprenticeship garners Wisdom and Safety.

Hello. Is "sub-cooled" refrigerant any refrigerant that is not in "superheat" state? Like is superheat a name for "vaporized refrigerant" and subcooled is another name for "liquid state refrigerant" could I think of it this way? or is it a mistake to think that way? Or does subcooling only entail the distance from the metering device into the evaporator coil until refrigerant flashes up into a vapor state superheat? Thank you.

    Thank you so very much!!!!!!

Thank you for what you're doing, brother. You have been able to make a lot of clear sense in matters that my instructors haven't been well enough to illustrate to our classes. I'm green to this field as are the others in my classroom and you make more familiar what we have only read and discussed.
    You're greatly appreciated

Terrific presentation and a great philosophy of having the students understand as much as they can to be better prepaired for jobs in the field. There used to be a philosophy of guarding information figuring that the younger ones would take their jobs or something.

Wasn't as clear as I'd have hoped but I persevered… watching it a few times.

I noticed you throw in incidental information which is good info but also detracts from the overall progress of your explanation. Having notes or putting up a list of things to go through in correct ORDER may help this apparently random collection of useful information.

I had to go outside your explanation to find out the terms subcooling superheat and saturated. I also note that the best piece of information you gave in the whole video was that we actually are interested vin temperature at the Centre of the two coils, but it's hard to access, so we gather that from the pressure readings on the lineset and convert to temperature. That is what made me understand..
Not trying to be overly critical bit the extras you put in are detracting from what you are trying to convey overall. Things like whether it's a tx valve or not and which is more efficient ..is good information but it sidetracked your flow of information and that loses our concentration.

awesome video! i love your channel thanks for this amazing information!!

You wearing a mask I assume you got the jab πŸ’‰ the HVAC wayπŸ§¬πŸ‘‘

  16. Frank Roper

I was trained the evaporator was supposed to be 50F. That was in the R22 days. 40F would be more like a car AC.

  17. Rodney Richwine

What would happen if you tightly covered the condenser with a large cloth, would the system operate efficiently and as designed? No it wouldn't, the same applies to humans constantly covering their own airflow. We weren't designed to constantly wear masks.

  18. Michael Russell

This was very informative…I learned more from this then 1 year in school.

  19. Bob Rosa

    Excellente' !!!

I wish I would have had the advantage of learning in this manner back in 1973. I wonder how much that Danfoss simulator cost. Love this clip!

  22. TEPAW

been around refrigeration for awhile but never on my own, recently I got the chance and took it. Thank you for you videos. I've watched a bunch and you buy far make it understandable. at roughly 23:00 you touched on what was confusing me. The fact that you measure line temp and take pressure to get sub cool if the condenser a ways away. Thank you because it is confusing. I'm gonna go back to watching more video now.

  23. Austin Moats

very helpful prior to my colleges program, thank you. Lol at the comments over a mask, at least you were even in a physical class. Last three semesters have been 100% online, thanks again tho!

Thank u very much , i appretiate wht u re doing to teach people hw to do it . And the BOOK too is very very good . Thank u again πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

  27. Bart Simpson

With all due respect to the gentlemen teaching this class, I would suggest you use simple terms and examples. As a retired engineer, the professor who taught this subject years ago used water as the chosen refrigerant. All can relate to the boiling of water and visualize the change of state to water vapor. A further explanation of boiling water in a closed loop system is then the only way to created super heat.

Just my humble suggestion. As always, a great presentation

  28. Kyle Perry

You are a sharp guy and a great teacher, I hope they realize that and learn! Good job man! πŸ‘
